Charanga Agozá, a charanga ensemble based in Madison, Wisconsin, was formed in 2009. The group performs Cuban dance music in the charanga tradition — a style of ensemble that emerged in early 20th-century Cuba, featuring flute, violins, piano, bass, and percussion.

Charanga ensembles were central to the development of genres such as danzón, cha-cha-chá, and pachanga, and experienced a resurgence in New York City during the salsa boom of the 1960s and 70s.

Charanga Agozá’s repertoire includes all of these genres as well as modern day salsa played charanga-style.

The group consists of Amber Dolphin on violin, Ben Knox on flute, Yanzel Rivera on vocals, Paul Muench on piano, John Mesoloras on double bass, Flaviano Estrella on trombone, Salar Saleh on timbales, José Madera on percussion, and Paddy Cassidy on congas.

Charanga Agozá, a charanga ensemble based in Madison, Wisconsin, was formed in 2009. The group performs Cuban dance music in the charanga tradition — a style of ensemble that emerged in early 20th-century Cuba, featuring flute, violins, piano, bass, and percussion.

Charanga ensembles were central to the development of genres such as danzón, cha-cha-chá, and pachanga, and experienced a resurgence in New York City during the salsa boom of the 1960s and 70s.

Founded in 2014, the Bill Roberts Combo brings a tight, nuanced, and rhythmically powerful  presentation to blues-jazz unlike anything you've heard before. The Combo performs both as an instrumental unit, and in a full band with a vocalist and other instrumentation, allowing the Combo to shine in many different kinds of events and venues. Bill Roberts has been voted best electric guitarist in the Madison area, and his award-winning album Blues Rides Shotgun has received critical claim as best blues album of the year. Backing Bill is a band of veteran players who have performed nationally and internationally in such places as France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, and elsewhere. Closer to home, the Bill Roberts Combo  plays many top venues in Madison and the upper Midwest. BRC delivers grace, subtlety, power and passion in their unique and mesmerizing take on the jazz-blues tradition every time they take the stage.

Experience *the* original and most inclusive Latin dance spot in Madison, now re-opened and revitalized with a new ownership and management team! LA RUMBA is stacked with amenities--all included with the cover charge:

-Two complimentary Latin dance lessons by Luis & The Capitol Social crew from 8-10 p.m. We will cover BACHATA for the first hour and SALSA for the 2nd hour. We will have 2 levels (Beginner and Intermediate) taking place simultaneously--each group with its own set of instructors!

-Smoothly dance to classic and current hits in the Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, and Merengue genres with DJ Luis from 10:00pm - 2:00am

Charanga Agozá, a charanga ensemble based in Madison, Wisconsin, was formed in 2009. The group performs Cuban dance music in the charanga tradition — a style of ensemble that emerged in early 20th-century Cuba, featuring flute, violins, piano, bass, and percussion.

Charanga ensembles were central to the development of genres such as danzón, cha-cha-chá, and pachanga, and experienced a resurgence in New York City during the salsa boom of the 1960s and 70s.

Charanga Agozá’s repertoire includes all of these genres as well as modern day salsa played charanga-style.

The group consists of Amber Dolphin on violin, Ben Knox on flute, Yanzel Rivera on vocals, Paul Muench on piano, John Mesoloras on double bass, Flaviano Estrella on trombone, Salar Saleh on timbales, José Madera on percussion, and Paddy Cassidy on congas.
